Domain Transfers .tel

My registrar charged much more than others for the .tel domains. And since the renewal is coming up soon, I tried to transfer them over to another registrar.

It says that I am not able to transfer cause .tel is a new TLD.

What are my options? I do not want to pay another $45/yr for each of my .tel domains.

If I am not able to transfer, how am I able to sell? hmmmm.....I am assuming the transfer can only be done within the same registrar!

The domain name entered is not supported. Domain names that begin with 'bq - -' or 'xn - -' are examples of non-supported domain names. Also country specific domain names such as .at, .be, .de, .mx, .nz, .uk, .vg, .gs, .tc, and .ms are also not supported.

That message doesn't mention .tel specifically. Can you ask for a manual transfer from their support center?

yes, I know.

Well I called. They said for now I can not transfer in but I CAN transfer my .tel's out.

All I would have to do according to them is call my new Registrar and ask them to transfer "in" the .tel's and that the registrars would communicate the rest together.

I havent had time to do that yet, but will update you and let you know how it goes.

.tel uses EPP, so you'd need:
- the EPP key from the current registrar
- ensure the domain(s) are unlocked

The way the .tel domains use the Telnic hosting adds a bit of confusion, but there is an option to take a backup of the content from there once you're logged in.
