Hi

Today there are many domain websites which can register your domain for like $2 or something , while many still charge $7-10. I was wondering how people can offer so cheap domains and should we stay away from them while registering new domains?

Thanks for your comments

Without looking at the registrar in question it is difficult to day. This could be a simple loss leader for a new entrant to build up a customer base however thinking back to the days when I was looking for a registrar I recall that on investigation such cheap deals fell into several categories:
1. It was a bulk rate for multiple registrations
2. It was tied to paying for a hosting contract
3. It required entering into quite a long contract with a hefty transfer fee.

Read the small print.

Yes , that whats came to my mind , hidden things. I think they may not allow me to move from them anywhere.

The websites of such guys are not professional which adds to doubt.

I am bit cautious for this.

The one and only time I registered a below market rate cheap .com (can't remember the price, was some years ago) they wanted something like £190 to transfer it away from them.

It wasn't worth anywhere near that, so I just let it expire, and forgot about it.
