Its been a while that I have parked my .tel domains. I did some research on some forums and apparently many people are excited about this extension. Especially its subdomains such as: FOLDERS.example.tel

They also discussed SEO and mentioned receiving traffic from Google.

In addition to that some guy said he saw a cab/bus advertise its service with a .tel extension printed on his car.

Any input from WW members in regards to .tel?

Has anyone here sold any good names for over $3K?

Has anyone here sold any good names for over $3K?

I reckon if anyone offered me £3k for 20 of my identical keyword .tel AND .mobi names then I would be very tempted to sell!

I shall only keep 3 specific names in both extensions and will put the others up for sale soon.

quoting from others:
- Auction Winning Bid for lesbian.tel on sedo is USD1000.

- hire.tel did indeed sell for 3k

- As reported today on DN Journal two large Australian city names sold last week for what
I think is a very very low price:
Adelaide.tel - $ 1392
Brisbane.tel - $ 1692

-escortdirectory.tel 240 EUR
Auction ended: Apr/18/09 07:05 PM EST

-Construction.tel USD 500
Bangkok.tel USD 1,140

-Sedo reported sale: ohio.tel - 1000 $US

-All .tel domain sales until now:
Lesbians.tel $ 1,000
Brisbane.tel $ 1,692
Adelaide.tel $ 1,392
Hire.tel $ 3,000
Tarragona.tel $ 1,161
EscortDirectory $ 360
Construction.tel $ 500
Bangkok.tel $ 1,140
Ohio.tel $ 1,000

-Visit.tel was sold on Sedo for $1000

I also got an offer for $300 bucks for a .tel domain however chose not to sell any of my names under 1K. So I think I will be holding on to them for another year or two.

I am suprised to see many people have bought 2keyword names.tel including hyphens! Im assuming most good names are taken already!

HuskyPup: Do you think .tel and .mobi fall under the same category? I dont own any .mobi's but personally think .tel has more potential.

Do you think .tel and .mobi fall under the same category?

As a site builder I thought that .mobi had a lot of potential however some of the new phones and especially netbooks seem to render my ideas useless.

Don't get me wrong this is purely for my business I am referring to, for many ideas it is probably extremely good and we all know how kids are prepared to listen to tinny, rattly music and look at little screens that they probably don't care and will use whatever services anyway.

Me? Heck, I have to use glasses sometimes to read text messages therefore when considering the usability factor they're totally useless for many, many people.

I'm told more Internet access in Japan is made by mobile than normal computers so it goes to show I know nothing! Like a lot of things it will develop its own niche and probably be very successful eventually but like text messaging no one seems to be all that sure what to do with it yet...in the Latin language world. Please let me know if there actually is something worth looking at.

I dont own any .mobi's but personally think .tel has more potential.

Potential for what?

Searching for "my company name" my .tel appears in 52nd position, all the sites before it are mine and all have links to the main company sites where all the same information is available anyway.

My business does not have enough depots/offices/branches/contacts/whatever to make good use of .tel, for a large corporation or maybe even government with loads of possible contacts I think it's fine, for the majority of us it would seem to be fairly pointless right now.

The cost is ok therefore I'll keep the three I want to...it's tax deductible:-)

Potential for re-sell. I heard .tel is coming with new applications hopefully in the near future 1-2 years!
