Hi all I'm new to website marketing.

My question is how important is it to have your domain name to reflect search volume.

Is it important or not for your domain name to emulate search volume?

Another question. Is XYZtshirts the same as XYZt-shirts? If not is it best to get both domains?

Marc

I'm a big fan of domain names that describe, preferably in popular generic terms/phrases/word(s), exactly what I'm marketing because it saves expense and effort that would otherwise have to be invested in branding.

It's somewhat "unimaginative" but as it gets harder to gain mindshare and search engine love it has its advantages.

So in you case, if possible, I'd go with a 2 word phrase that exactly matches what you are offering.

But that's me. :P

would you go with the more popular word or phrase that Google says is more popular?

An example;

Yeshua
Messiah

Messiah looks like it is more popular. More general.

Yeshua would be a word or phrase that someone would be very specific.

You look for the word/phrase for your target audience. And hope somebody hasn't already got it! If religion is the intended audience explore those options... but I'd be very surprised if all the best keywords have not already been taken... and years ago.
