I have moved sites and changes registrars before but I have never transferred a domain to a new owner. Can someone please tell me where to start or how to do this? I have my domains at godaddy.

I think I figured it out after having weeded my way thru godaddy's sales promotions, but advice is always welcome.

Why not just phone the support staff at Godaddy and ask them how to go about it and protect your interests at the same time ..

They ..as Godaddy /Bluerazor deal with with domain name transfers from their clients to others all the time ..

And they know more about their internal proceedures than any of "us" here can tell or advise you ..even if like myself they have many domain names registered via the Godaddy/Bluerazor system ..

That said ..in all transfers ..rather than use "online escrow services" I would treat any commercial sale of goods ( your domain name is just that ..even if it is "intangible goods") the same way as any other ..via a major bank and letters of credit ..

IE; the buyer makes evidence of the funds available via their bank to your bank and blocks them with an irrevocable letter of credit ( and then contingent upon your "documents" matching the contract terms ..the deal goes ahead ..neither of you can back out or "scam" the other providing the letter of credit terms match as seen and accepted by both of you and both of your banks ).."letters of credit" ( on agreed terms ) can cost as little as €25.00 or $35.00 to set up ( they usually also have a "pro rata" additional charge depending on the value of the transaction ..

Ask your bank ..or lawyer ..or accountant about how they work ..

edited for dumb "typo" ..s'cuse moi ..:o
