I was watching the auction and keeping my eye on FloridaAttorney.com

Why? Check the stats on the search volume and PPC. Even at $8,000.00 this is a domain that is likely to pay for itself in 2 years.

Enduser value? What's the value of 1 decent personal injury case? So this is a strong candidate for an enduser acquistion at a significantly higher price. Remember that it's the "converted lead value" that probably is the best indicator of enduser value.

I even pondered the possibility of opening up shop in Florida . . .

So, as best I can tell those in the best position to judge undervaluation opportunities "at auction" will either know something about the industry from direct experience . . or will have a hunch and do a bit of homework.

FloridaAttorney.com for $8,000.00? A business in a box and a highly compensated one at that.

Any other tips for spotting bargains at auction?

I think this is especially true for 'emerging trends'. I've found some great two word domains just by knowing a bit about an upcoming trend...

depending on the case. somebody could walk into your office with a $10k retainer to take a civil case in you've got $2k in your pocket - @ least until the rent's due.

A single decent personal injury case pays the entire cost. Every case after that just shows how you were wise to spend $8,000. "for a domain", which is actually a perpetual yellowpages ad, billboardable, etc.

Really . . I came so close to buying this one . . and moving to Florida. ;)

I checked different states and almost none had a PPC as high as FL.

Why is that? hmmm....

Hmm, excellent.

BottledWater.com - $45K. I guess that's a bit larger market than injury lawyers in florida. I wish I had that kinda spare money. Maybe seems high to some, but considering $4.7 Billon market....

Bottled water is all about branding . . as anything other than . . bottled water?

Still, per Google, the search volume is impressive as is the PPC: bottled water CPC $3.10. Queries 450,000/368,000

Looks like a domain that can pay for itself even at that price = $47,000

Webwork, exactly! And it is a Coca Cola level companies who sell most bottled water. Also there are companies who sell office bottled water, this money is peanuts. Imagine if this has been pitched directly to them!

On the bad news, my competitor just spent close to $100,000 on 2 "the" best niche domains....things are about to get very serious.
