If this article from SEDO [sedo.com] is anything to go by, it looks like .mx will be opening up starting May 1.

They don't use the language, but it appears that May 1 begins a sunrise period for existing name holders followed by a September landrush.

It sounds like you need to own a .mx name in order to participate in the sunrise. As a trademark name holder I wonder whether there is another way to get in on the sunrise of this second level domain.

Announcements are supposed to be made on [nic.mx...] but you'll need to read Spanish.

From www.nic.mx: ".MX es la nueva forma de decir Mexico"

Translation: .MX is the new way of saying (to say) Mexico

Making gringo domain hoarders work for their domain food, by learning Spanish? Putting some domainers at an advantage to their non-bilingual counterparts?

Works for me. ;)

I'm not! ;)

Budget too low & too many domains to manage. I have way too many domains compared to the number of my websites.

Flu.mx :-)

.mx for mail server appeals only to geeks IMO, people just want to get mail, they don't know the inside
