I was tracking a few domains and almost convinced myself to bid on a few, but my mantra - "be developing not domaining" - overwhelmed my impulse to acquire more domains. :P
But, by golly, there were many alluring, "come hither" domains in the silent auction, some placed for auction with no reserve, and many that I deemed to be development worthy domains at bargain basement prices.
When the dotcom bubble burst in 2001-2003, and many folks were dropping or unloading domains on the cheap, there were certain folks who went into buying mode, including myself. I picked up a number of domains during that time (2001-2003) for $25 to $50 that have paid for themselves many times over by the PPC revenue that they continue to produce in 2009.
Will the buyers in this market, the ones who are cherry picking domains, do as well as those who made buys in 2002?
I'm not a big fan of .Biz domains, but I own a handful of .Biz domains that actually "work" - make PPC coin - because they are "biz robust". I even picked up a few 2 word .Biz domains in late 2008, domains that "but for the .biz gTLD would - easily - be $100,000+ .com domains. Price for my folly? 4 .biz domains at $50 a pop.
So, Virginia.biz for $2,300? Deal or no deal?
Heart.info for $1300? Deal or no deal?
You should have heard me slurring my "developer not domainer" mantra whilst chomping at the bit . . ;)
