Hello!

Is it possible for anyone to register a new domain extension like .me, .mu etc ? If yes, please direct me to the right company.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld anointedprince.

Look for the NIC associated with the respective extension you're looking to register. For example, the .ME NIC [nic.me] and .MU NIC [nic.mu] could help you with information about those domains.

Hi!

Thanks for the reply.

But, my question is different.

I mean, can I register a fresh new domain extension like .xyz?

Someone please reply.

Have you visited the ICANN.org website and read about ICANN's process for establishing new TLDs? That would be a very good place to start to learn how to establish a "new extension".

The process of applying for and creating a "new extension" costs hundreds of thousands of dollars.

There have been past failed efforts to establish "new extensions" that required special browser plugins to make the system work. I suspect most people who bought into this system, by buying domains, were domain speculators who promptly lost interest and lost money in the process. Chances of such a system attracting new money are, at this time, unlikely.

Heaven only knows how ICANN's "unlimited TLDs" fare, but if you have a few extra hundred thousand dollars you can find out.

Thanks for the reply and wise counsel.

I don't have a few extra hundred thousand dollars.

You really saved my lot of time and energy.
