I need advice about where (which company) to register domains?

<Reseller reference removed> Isn't it good to have domain registrar (and also Web hosting provider) in same country, I live in?

What is the procedure and whom to complain, if suppose a person looses his/ her domain name?

Thanks in advance for help.

Hello anshul.

Hopefully you aren't asking for specific referrals since allowing such threads would result in endless spamming of WebmasterWorld.

I choose my registrar based upon a few criteria: Customer service, price, friendliness/utility of their domain management interface and the company's history of security and solvency. I'd hate to have hassles due to security issues or the company having financial troubles.

You know who the bigger .Com players are. If you have 100s of domains I suggest you try their interfaces and see what works best for you.

You can get plenty of feedback about hassles by searching the Web using words or phrases that indicate dissatisfaction with CompanyName.tld.

Thanks for reply.

Well, would you choose a global, non-local provider or you prefer a local provider within your own country? Whether we prefer to have Web hosting with same registrant company or it doesn't matter anyway?

Sadly, most companies aren't glitch-free. Many companies don't mention address also. They do provide contact page with a submission form, some contact numbers and even a fancy chat box.

Finding a registrar service is not difficult. Take a look at what's out there. Do a little research. Go cheap, go expensive...your choice. Give it a few years and see if what they serve actually serves you correctly. Once registered, no matter who through, you're done. (I go for cheap, but that's me)

I go for a local registrar as that is the cheapest way to get a ccTLD. I would consider going abroad for a .com
I go for local hosting because I can resort to local consumer protection law if there is a serious problem.

It is obvious: if we trust ICANN approved registrar.

I browsed many Web sites and surprised to see, different registrar are cheapest in different TLD extensions. So it appears not to put all domains with same registrar.

I usually use an international company, as they are cheaper.
As I am in the industry I can keep my eye on them and hear the news if they are going down the tube
My clients usually prefer to use a local supplier, for handier consumer protections
