<Rescued miner's names, registered as .AU domain names> deleted by the Australian domain name administrator, auDA, 24 hours after their registration.

There's just something that feels right about this one, not allowing someone to register the names of people rescued in a mining accident, nor allowing it to happen in the case of people killed or held hostage or maimed or other personal tradgedy or personal victory.

"Oh, but I registered them because I was going to make a website celebrating their rescue."

Ya, right, all heart and pure as the driven snow I'm sure.

Perhaps there ought to be a presumption of invalidity and revocability in the case of registering people's names, at least those name domains registered in proximity to public events involving a person of "that name"?

That's what I was thinking too. I also made note of it because I have not heard of auDA deleting names very often. Do they?

(A quick scan of their news archive indicates that they don't usually publish the fact that they do.)
