Due to concerns about relentless spamming we don't allow threads to run that ask "what's the best domain registrar" or "what's the cheapest registrar".
You can easily find ads for "cheap domains" and the like by querying a search engine.
The problem with cheap, or even free domains, is often the deal comes with baggage: terms and conditions that restrict the domain in some manner or that require you to buy added services. Therefore, when searching for the latest deal be certain to read the fine print, especially if you are buying multiple domains.
Generally, due to "gotchas" you would be wise to steer clear of domain offers that are less than the registrar pays the central registry for each domain, which these days I believe runs about $6.00. A domain offer below the registrar's cost is what is known as a "loss leader", which is an offer to get you in the door so you can be sold other products/services.
I'd suggest you spend some time reading the websites of the various registrars. Look to see what they emphasize about their service: Ease of use? (How easy is it to use their website?) Price? (Heck, they ALL compete on price.) Security of your domains? (Pretty important to some, but just how do they manage to add "extra security" to the existing system?) Easy user interface? (Won't know until you register a domain. Maybe you should try several registrars.) Helpful customer service? (Another good reason for using several registrars at first.) Easy transfers? (Ditto)
We don't allow voting posts, as they're often a pretext for promoting, so please let's not see any "ExampleRegistar rocks!" type posts.
We are BIG fans of education that helps people to make decisions, so you all feel free to add any non-promotional educational comments.
