I have an examples.com site since 2003 with PR4, recently I managed to get (at last!) example.com (singular) which someone has been annoyingly parking since 2000 (Has PR1).

My question, what would be the best way to use this new example.com site? Redirect seems boring, anything more interesting to be more beneficial?

Depends what the word is of course (don't tell me!), but some words work better one way or the other ... and some it just doesn't matter. You decide.

Changing from the old domain to the new would certainly not be boring; it may be merely difficult, but it could be catastrophic.

If the site has been earning money since 2003, then a boring but effective 301 is almost certainly a better move than catastrophy!

Cool URIs don't change. [w3.org]

Hey Quadrille, cheers for the response. The word is a "professional service". Changing the old for the new would give me nightmares! Iīm happy with the process of the __s.com site but now with the ___.com I have stopped competitors stealing my identity.

Having built up many links and much internet presence with the ___s.com site I was really just wondering if the age of the ___.com site would have any benefits if a micro-site was put up there and then linked to the ___s.com site. A bit of PR and age being directly juiced canīt do any harm?

But a Google penalty can.

2002 spam methods won't get you a ban with just one domain, I'm sure; but neither will the 'link juice' from that site do a lot of good. And it's a dangerous habit to get into, and an invitation to rivals to search for other minor indiscretions. They add up.

Dare to be boring. Do the 301 :)

The 301. Hmmmmmmmm With this do you think submitting this site newly to directories, blogs... to get direct incoming links would be worth doing in the meanwhile (even though they will be redirected)?

I will create entirely new content for these new site in the near future.

Personally, I'd time my next SEO push to coincide with the 301; I'd not turn down links meantime, but I'd not expend much energy getting them.

If the site you are promoting is not a blog, then blog links and forum links won't really make a lot of difference; go for quality links.
