What is the Process for Transfering a Domain That is Resold?

Hi all,

Pretty simple question really (i guess), how do you go about transferring domain names to another person or company?

Hopefully, the one company i work for might have a domain name transferred to them. If the other person is willing to do this, what do we need to do? And what does the other person need to do?

Also, what are the costs (if any) involved in this?

Assuming that the business of the transer, i.e., the price negotiation + payment, has been completed the transfer is simply a matter of using your existing domain registrar's user interface to initiate the transfer. Most domain registrar's have fairly clear FAQs that answer "how to transfer a domain" using their system, explaining the need to secure a "transfer code", the need for the existing registrant to "unlock" the domain, etc.

I'm a bit uncertain how far along you are in the process so I'm not certain how far to go in explaining what must be done.
