Registrant Using my Business Name and Address

Today I received a letter from one of those unscrupulous registrars that send out mock invoices in an attempt to get you to renew with them. I almost threw it away, but decided to take a look since most of my domains are now set as private.

The domain name was one that I didn't recognize. I did a whois lookup, and noticed that someone registered it with all of my company information (name, address, phone number) except they used a different email address.

The domain presently doesn't resolve to any particular site. Why on Earth would someone else be using my personal contact information for the registration, when they could just as easily have made it private?

I would send the register legal department a email and follow up with a call to get this changed as it can't be a good thing and you need to get it removed.

I have found this in countries that require residence for domain registration.
