I have just regisered a three keyword domain

is only 11 letters long - also is .co.uk

Is this to long in your eyes?

would .com be better

I want this ranking well in the search engines

Maybe i should register .co.uk and .com what is everybody ideas on this please?

An 11 letter domain wouldn't qualify as "long" or "too long" in my book.

Go with co.uk for geotargeted traffic, accompanied by local hosting.

and how about .com for a bigger site? the uk traffic is my main target but .com does sound better for branding purposes

If you think your international audience can generate more than £10 in revenue in one year by typing your 'three keyword .com' into a web browser then buy it.

If not then maybe you should rethink your whole business plan again.

Of course there is the branding too. I think .com looks better and I am a UK resident.

Regards.

If you are trying to specifically target the UK, then the .co.uk is better as far as seo is concerned, but you can always get the .com and redirect it to the .co.uk domain.
