<Snip>

Are Moniker's domain valuations known to be reliable?

Where are the best places to sell a domain name?

Thank you

Here's a thread that addresses your question about where to sell a domain. [webmasterworld.com]

Regarding domain appraisals I think that you will find Moniker has been involved in many domain sales reported at DNJournal. They have a long and noteworthy history in the domain reselling business. They also run a domain registration service and a domain parking service. In other words, it's reasonable to infer that they have the data and the experience to offer a meaningful opinion about domain values.

Hope that addresses your question.

Keep in mind that domain valuations is as much an art as a science. An appraisal is a reasoned estimate of value, not the bottom line, which will only be realized at the time you and a buyer settle on a price. The domain world is a very big one and, in some cases, there are very large sums of money looking for "just the right address/identity", so an appraisal may have little bearing on the final price. However, appraisals are a pretty good starting point, especially for anyone who has not been tracking sales for several years.

You might want to read the sales records at DNJournal. There's some education to be gained. However, it's quite likely that the sales reported at DNJ are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to sales >$5-10,000+ and mush higher. Many people simply don't care to publicly air the terms of their deals.

Moderator's Note: Folks, we are not going to get into the business of voting posts when it comes to where to sell or park a domain.

IF you wish to add to the intelligence of the issue then set forth some manner of factual analysis:

  • Your experience with the user interface and domain/transaction management systems
  • The number of domains you have sold using a system
  • What there is about the landers that you say works better
  • How your income or sales moved up or down based upon a move, in which case it would be appropriate to state a) the size of your domain portfolio; b) the target market of the domains; c) the time of year of the move (yes, domains are seasonal); etc.

Provide some factual analysis, not just a vote. Provide something that sheds light on exactly what about CompanyA vs. CompanyB makes a difference.

Pure "I made more money" or "use BlahBlah" posts are useless absent a generalized description of the nature of you portfolio and other information.

Posts that say nothing more than "Use BlahBlahBlah" are voting posts and won't last. Sorry, but I know you can do better in helping to educate members.

I don't agree with Domain valuations or appraisals at all.

A domain is worth what you can sell it for. If you are good at negotiating then you can sell domains.

Experience at selling Double Glazing, Mobile Phones or Cars is a must.

Regards.
