Hi,

I've recently switched from an old webhost who was also the registrant of my domain. Now I've transferred the IPS tag to my new registrant and the DNS nameservers are pointing to my new webhosts.

Now, I'm not sure I understand how this all works. Because I've pointed the DNS nameservers to a new webhost, does it mean that the site I have set up with them should appear automatically? Or do I need to deal with the registrants to forward on the domain to my webhost folder?

I'm confused and need to get this sorted asap or my b**ls will be chopped by my client.

Any guidance HUGELY appreciated.

Thanks

Marcia

Here's an older thread on it:

How long has it been since you made the nameserver change?

Registration is an entirely separate issue to hosting.

If you have correctly set up the new site and it's running, allow up to 24 hours for the new IP to populate across the net. Sometimes it'll appear in a few hours, and i've seen some appear in a few minites.

*EDIT*

Got the site working! Thanks for your responses. All I needed to do (as the nameservers were already pointing to Dreamhost and the IPS tag was registered with my new registrant) was add a subdomain to my Dreamhost package to let them know I needed my site hosted.

*END EDIT*

Thanks for getting back to me. I believe I've set up the site correctly, however, what would you consider setting up a site correctly for this sort of situation?

Thanks
