Hi just wondering thoughts on 3 character mobi names. I tend to obsess a bit and have bought a few 3 character mobi names with a combo of letters and numbers. My thinking is that might be good with people since they are using there cell phones because of entry simplicity. However as in the past with many things I could be wrong. Just a little background I am pretty much a self taught newbie who has in the past only bought and developed web sites with .com domains. I am 45 years old and feel young but may be out of touch since I think of text messaging as a waste of time. Anyway trying to figure out if I am wasting my time with buying 3 character mobi names. But if you feel it is a good choice what do you think is the most important for the future? ex. how easily it is punched into a phone? how it sounds? or if there are existing .com web sites with that name? Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi RWGuy and welcome to the WebmasterWorld Domain Forum.

The silence is deafening, isn't it? :-/

I would take it as a sign that very few folks, in 2008, are getting excited about 3 char .Mobis.

I'd stick to .com. Mobile compliance has no attachment to .Mobi. Sure, there will be a few sites built around .Mobi but . . Well, we've all read the arguments and we're not going to re-open that can of worms as the lake is all fished out.

Maybe 2020 will be a better year for your domains? :)

Ah thanks for the response. I think your advice is prudent and I should probably just settle down with my current mobi names. RWGUY

the many new extensions, only make .com more valuable since it is the default one. I was shocked to find out that .jobs and .travel were actually online. Combined with some 200+ country .tlds and we have a jungle out there. But then, registering and keeping them is not that bad..
