hey all,

How do I know that the other party is credible and not just wasting my time. What steps do I need to take so i can transfer domain name to them without hassles. How much time you think it takes for successful completion of domain selling.

Any more advice/suggestion will be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Rose

If it is a significant sum of money, use an escrow service. When you mention the use of an escrow service to the other party, you fill quickly find out if they are a honest buyer or cheater. If they try to convince you that you don't need an escrow service, run away.

Never accept a payment via creditcard because the buyer can initiate a charge back after the domain has been transferred to them. In that case you have no money and no domain left. Plain Paypal transfers from one account to another are safe, as Paypal doesn't allow a charge back on domain sales, but if the buyer uses Paypal with a direct payment from his creditcard he can still initiate a Paypal charge back via his creditcard company.

i'm confused about your claim that a credit card payment is unsafe?

if someone buys a domain from you fraudulently it is a criminal matter and you would get the name back, although perhaps there would be a process involved.

Yes, eventually you will either get the name, or the money, I'll agree with that. But if there are other options around like putting a third party in between who will handle the problems in case of a fraudulent situation for a few percent of the price I will go for that option.

Rose_1171 you can see if the person is serious pretty quick. You can as well accept a credit card as well just let them know you will need to verify all the information, etc. to determine the credit card is not a fraud.

Be sure and get the CVV number as well. Get the issuing bank call them verify the card address telephone number and zip code. The bank won't have the CVV number to verify.

If he/she meets your price then the only steps there are is

1-sell
2-collect
3-transfer the domain to him/her

Time wise really isn't an object it can take place as fast as you bought the domain in a matter of minutes or hours however long it takes you to be sure the money is safe and the deal is good.

DO NOT GET RUSHED OR LET THE BUYER RUSH YOU this will be a big bad redddddd alarm he is a fraud....

That is about all there is to selling a domain the MAIN thing is BEFORE you transfer the domain make sure the card is ok. If they are paying by certified check MAKE sure the check is ok I got a 5k stolen certified check one time.

Just make sure any payment type is ok paypal is one to be careful with as well so be wary of any paypal payment..

If you make sure the money is ok then make the deal transfer the domain after the funds are in your bank and all dots have been crossed....

Also, if you decide to go with an escrow service you should choose which one or agree on one with a solid reputation because some scammers might also have their own phony escrow sites.
