"Domain Name Forwarding allows you to redirect or "point" your domain name to another location."

I want to point www.widget.com to www.bestwidget.com

Does anyone know a service provider that performs this service for free?

Ask your host (or whoever is in charge of the authorative nameservers) to create a CNAME entry in DNS for www.widget.com. Then make sure requests for that domain name get a 301 served (to the other domain) and you should be OK.

Most registrars allow you to do url forwarding to your www.bestwidget.com domain. If it's not obvious from their admin panel (and it should be), then ask them about it.
