I came up with a site name and checked to be sure it's not registered. The URL I'm after is something-keyword.com keyword.com is already registered and in use by another company. The business name running that site is not keyword. I will probably start killing them in the SEs after a while and they'll probably get mad about it. Is there anything they could do, or is this fair-play?

Thanks.

As long as the name isn't a trademarked name you are ok.

so is something from your URL anything connected with them or a patented name?
if not, I don't think anything should be bad about it.

The URL I'm after is something-keyword.com

In my industry there are a huge number of businesses, literally thousands worldwide, doing this since "keyword" is so specific to my widget trade. There are companies using akeyword.com, aakeyword.com, familynamekeyword.com, numberskeyword.com, town/citykeyword.com, countrykeyword.com.

I can't see any reason why this is any different is it?

Thanks guys. That was my inclination, but I wanted to double check before I called the lawyer to find out. I will still call, but didn't want to waste my money :)

No, the keyword is not trademarked, they are not Keyword inc. or anything else. I think I'm good.
