How does snapnames work

Need to acquire a domain in redemption

I am trying to register a name (.com) that expired mid August and is currently in redemption.

I think no one else will be interested in it BUT I don't want to take a chance.

I was thinking of using snapnames but one thing that I did not understand is.. will they put that name on auction or highlight it on their home page if I use their services?

No, you have nothing to worry about. It will only go to auction if someone else is trying to get it through Snapnames at the same time as you. Otherwise, if you apply for it before the drop and there are no other contenders, it goes instantly to you.
