Domain list by registrar

A registrar lists every name on their website

There's a thread [webmasterworld.com] over in the General Search Engine Promotion and Marketing Issues Forum, about a domain name registrar that has a (linkable) list of every domain name registered with that registrar! (hundreds and hundreds of domains)

The concern in the other forum is about page ranking (with some comments about spammers grabbing them).

This just feel *wrong* to me ... sure, there are ways to get lists of domain names and the registrar -- but I know I'd "not be amused" if my registrar of choice displayed all my domain names in this manner.

Is this just something that's rubbing me the wrong way?

(I have the link to the registrar's page with the listing of domain names -- but will wait to hear if it's ok to include it here)

No link please. You've described the situation well enough that people will be able to make comments.

What is your concern about that?

This features can be good to help promote your
own domains, but bring some negative impact when
to many domain are list on the same page.

I think any registrar of common sense would at the very least notify their registrants and ask for an opt-in to any such published lists, as this could potentially create privacy concerns, and as you've mentioned, there are the spammers who would love to have access to such a list.

Perhaps the registrar has good intentions, but perhaps didn't think it through thoroughly.
