Hi, I am going to have to register a .net or even a .US cause all the .com's I want have gone.

Does it make a difference SEO wise or not?

Also can I point say a keyword.net, keyword.US, keyword.name ect to a single site without incurring a penalty?

cheers

From a SE point of view it doesn't matter. If you intend to develop a website, however, on a domain other than .com, you have to be prepared to lose 10-15% of your traffic to the .com domain! Practically you'll donate 15% of your marketing efforts to the .com competitor...

You can point keyword.net, keyword.US, keyword.name ect to a single site without incurring a penalty but you should do that with 301 redirect to your preferred domain.

Well what I have done is register a 3keyword .com which is the best I can get.

I will then point the other 2keyword.us domains to the main site.

Will that be OK, is pointing via DNS the same as a reditect?

cheers

I am not exactly sure what do you mean by DNS redirect? If it is a simple domain forwarding, it is actually a 302 redirect and you will not be penalised but it is not SE friendly. If you attempt to do domain aliasing, take care, because SEs may pick the 'wrong' domain for your main domain source.

Hello, If someone could explain a DNS forward v setting all the domaiain names to go to the same name server as I do not understand the difference.

You say forwarding is not SEO friendly, what is the best way?

Many thanks for your help.
