Is it true that on a normal multi-user webserver, all of the, say, 20 - 100 domains / websites will have the same IP? And, that the nameservers for each therefore all resolve to one IP?

What happens when one of the sites goes bad, gets banned by Google or blocklisted - surely everybody else suffers?

What happens when you want your own unique IP, to avoid these problems?

What exactly is the problem with allocating each domain its own IP? I know they are free to the ISPs from RIPE / ARIN etc, but would imagine that the ISPs charge hosting companies per block of 256 or whatever.

i think it varies according to host.

i have a very cheap shared hosting account where i have a unique ip address for myself on a shared server, it comes with the hosting package and i assume all the other clients have the same deal.
