Living in Indonesia and renewing domain names

Doing business from a land perceived as dodgy

I've recently relocated from Thailand to Indonesia and when I logged in to my Network Solutions account to renew some domain names, my credit card (AMEX, from Thailand) wasn't accepted.

When I contacted Netsol, they said that due to US Fed restrictions, they cannot accept transactions from countries that are part of the US Block List. They then gave me a link to this "US Block list". Neither Indonesia, nor Thailand are a part of the list! I assume by Thailand card is getting tagged by some IP checker that has me based in Indonesia...

Regardless of the fairness of such a "Block List", and despite the fact that Indonesia is not even on the list, I'm in a bit of a quandry as I need to renew domain names and short of flying out of the country, I have no way to do it.

Can anyone suggest a means to get around this? -- I looked into paypal, but Netsol don't appear to accept payment by them.

Any suggestions much appreciated

Well, since anyone (last time I checked) can renew a NetSol domain, you might send money to a friend via PayPal (net/net) and then have that friend use a local credit card to make the payment for you.

Might work.

Then again, a half hour ago I told someone I'm going to bed because I think my mental faculties are fading, so maybe it won't.

Nah, it will.

Change to a new registrar- NetSol's too expensive anyway. Not only that, by my experience with them is that they go way out their way to make it difficult to do business with them. So why bother?

Book a free ticket from AirAsia (2 million free tickets) and fly to Malaysia or Singapore to renew your domain.
