I'm new to this and I don't understand what I read in another post:

" The domain name/hosting reseller had put their contact email in the whois for the website or were refusing to remove lock on domain name." (caran1, [webmasterworld.com...]

Can anyone explain this to me? I have currently a website and when I do a whois for it it displays "registrar lock". Should I be worried about this?

Registrar-Lock, at the very least, prevents your domain name registration from being transferred from its current provider to a new one. What else it does is up to the current one.

Whether you should be worried or not depends if you wanna transfer out right away. :)

Probably not. It's a security measure to help prevent someone from scooping your domain. You should be able to manually unlock it - the method depends on the particular Registrar. You could check with your own Registrar to find out the method so you know how to do it if you ever want to transfer the domain.
