We're discussing the pros/cons of switching from a .com, any views on it?

Make sure you keep control of the dot-com.

You'd probably need to promote the domain as www.example.dj not just example.dj because the .dj TLD would be unfamiliar to a lot of users and some of them wouldn't know it was a website unless you included the www. bit.

Well I would keep the .com and have the .dj point to the same site... I can think of no reason to drop a .com at all... have it just in case someone types in .com out of habit or has it bookmarked or linked.

If anyone is wondering about the .dj extention here is a little info.

The .dj extension originally comes from the country Djibouti. But this extension is mostly sold as the term disc jockey.

The .dj extension is extremely popular in the world of multimedia and music. Anyone can register a .dj domain name.

The 'first-come-first-served' principle is applied for .dj domain names.

I'd suggested a bit of caution before switching but the guys appear smitten by the "kewl" factor, had a look around G and can't find any .dj sites featuring in the SERPs, so he's either well ahead of the Posse or........ :-)
