Domain Pricing: How do you value domains?

Where do you start? What are the factors?

Hi,

I wanted to get some opinions on how do you even start to try and get a realistic/futuristic value on a domain.
i.e i bought a 1 word generic.us (250k overture monthly searches) for a client,paid 2500.00 for it...so i still cant decide if we paid about right or are setting new .us records :) .
also i am excpecting .us rise in near 1-3 years.
How do anyone else sees this
