Generic .EU Domains

I have 2 questions to more expirienced guys in domain biz.

1) What do you think, when it is better to register generic domains on the .eu zone? For example, domain names such sex.eu couldn't be registered at sunrise 1 (it couldn't be a trademark). Could such domains be registered at sunrise 2 or only at landrush period?

2) I also wonder if any documents are needed at sunrise 2 (excluding eu company), I couldn't find any info on it.

There are a lot of applications for sex.eu (232 applications). Some of them are not compliant with the rules - particularly the claims where the prospective registrant is a public body. Indeed the same individuals can be seen attempting to register high value generic .eu domains and also well known trademarks such as Google, Microsoft etc. (Google, Microsoft, Yahoo etc not actually being "Public Bodies"). Some applications are showing as not having submitted supporting documentation yet.

Could such domains be registered at sunrise 2 or only at landrush period?

I think that Sunrise 2 covers prior rights holders.

Just remember that the .eu is a very big, multilanguage market and your great generic in one language might mean something completely different in another.

I just registered a lot of .eu domains. I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep most of them, some are very generic. But I figured it was worth a try. I'd register now just to be on the safe side.

Just registered a .eu domain name and its good that the restrictions are that to register the registrant has to be a EU national or the business has to operate in the EU.

Thus its a shame that the EU hasn't learnt from mistakes made in the past with other domain names.

It really annoys me that people register domain names with the sole purpose of either buyig in bulk and then redirecting them to one site ( ie somebody buying thousands of domain names and redirect to one page with ads) or people buy domain names and then not using them. Actions like these don't contribute to social good.

Perhaps there needs to be restriction on number of domains somebody can register in there name.
