I had a server that hosted our old site. It was physically shut down one week ago, as i developed a new site on a different host.

Name servers all point towards the new host. When i do a DNS query, i have found that some domain servers are holding on to the old IP address of the old server, and various ISP's are not able to see my new site. But the name servers are all to my new hosting companys name servers.

My hosting company has verified their DNS settings are correct, and i have verified that as well.

If some Top Level Domain servers have cached my old server IP address....and the TTL was only 48 hours.....this souncds like a corrupted record for my site?

Who do i contact to clear this issue....i have already contacted IANA and they cant really help me...

any insight is greatly apprecaited.

If this is really a TLD domain server issue, you might try asking on the North American Network Operators Group. Do a search for "NANOG", it should be on the merit.edu domain.

It is not uncommon for some braindead entities to set their main nameservers to not refresh for a week or more.

If your main nameserver shows your new ip, and 4.2.2.1 shows the new ip, it's probably all ok except for those.
