Hi folks,

I got a lot of domains registered with godaddy and right now I can not reach godaddy OR the domains from serveral networks.

It looks like they are down big time? Could anyone confirm?

Thanks
P!

Also down for me in the UK (no DNS entry) so I assume their DNS system is having some issues.

I called and got a supporter on the line quite quickly... but he said "server maintenance", which is bulls* ... I hate it, when companies not telling the truth about the issues they have. If their main router went down and they do not have a replacement at hand it could last 24hrs or more and all I would need is to know about it.

grrr,
P!

Does this mean sites with domain registered with godaddy down also even hosted elsewhere?

It looked as if godaddy's whole DNS system went down for a while. If that was the case, any domain using their nameservers (default for domains registered through them) would be unavailable.

I did check a couple of domains at the time, don't have any registered through them myself so couldn't say exactly.

Big problem with GoDaddy. My sites registered there have been offline all day AND the whois has reverted to the previous registrar AND is UNLOCKED.

I have a site with one of godaddy's local affiliates (downdoggy, which is the same exact thing, support, etc. for cheaper) and they were down all morning. Came back up 4 hours ago or so.

Aaaah, the hidden peril of using a bimbo-themed ad campaign! People who thought that was cute will remember it in a different light when the service goes down and proper explanations are forthcoming.
Other people, the thought occured to them upon first seeing the ad, and didn't think twice about using them.
A fine example of the potential downside of an "edgy" marketing campaign.
