Morning all,

Fairly new to this so this may sound very basic but I was wondering how having multiple domains forwarding on to one main domain impacts on search engines.

We have purchased several domains for the different functions of our business and the company that hosts our site has set up forwarding for these to point at our main site, which all works fine.

What i was wondering was a) is there a way to get these domains included in search engine results? b) is it classed as a negative having multiple domains pointing at one domain?

Thanks in advance for any help

a)
Probably not, because these domains have no content and are simply pointing forwarders to another domain hosting account.

b)
You'll have to forward all these domains using permanent redirect (301 redirect).

Probably best to have them as parked domains, so each domain behaves the same way. Rather than redirects. Thats assuming you have that option available.

Just to clarify, are these multiple domain names or

multiple sub domains

I can see that you refer to having paid for them, but because sub domains are more commonly used for the purpose you refer to, i wondered

I wonder if I can join this topic - I have just managed to buy the .com version of my current .co.uk domain name. The market is global so I'm hoping this is a good move.
Would I need to make the .com version my main website - i.e. trasfer all the pages there and do redirects from my current site?
What is a parked domain?
Basically - can anyone give me some clues as to the best way of dealing with this?
Many thanks in advance,
Gill
