A domain forum takes a stand on listing indisputable TM domains for sale

Is the industry cleaning up its act?

Generally, you won't find me commenting about "other" domain forums but I'm putting this up as I consider it part of a significant industry wide trend to clean up its act, that is, to build credibility, legitimacy and public confidence.

Here's the very recent announcement from DomainState that I'm referring to:

With immediate effect we reserve the right to remove domains that are listed here that we consider - in our sole discretion - to have no legitimate reason for their registration other than to trade off the goodwill of a third party.

Nice to see this policy change as I've long argued that it is in the aftermarket/parking industry's best interest to clean up the appearance that there's support for true cybersquatting, for example DisnyChannel.com. (See DS comments by some gadfly calling himself "CrankyOldMan". :)

I'm seeing industry improvement all over the place: PPC companies shunning trademark domain traffic and rewarding generic traffic that converts, more targeted domain landing pages, the death of multiple pop-ups spawned by domain landing pages, the fact that "big industry" is buying entire domain portfolios for $millions a pop.

2005 is not 1999. Better business models. Better ways to monetarize traffic.

Of course, we have always had a policy against posting trademark treading domains for sale here, haven't we? :) Ummm, well, sorta, ya know, like implicitly or by implication or is that logical extension or something else meritorious . .

Only time will tell if everyone else will clean up their act before someone else "gives them a helping hand". :)
