I know this question has been asked before but I would like to put forward my particular situation and would ask for some advice.

I am running a project, which although administered by my maindomain.com it is also a seperate project with a seperate brand for marketing.

At present I have simply used my control panel to forward any traffic going specifically to newproject.com to maindomain.com/newproject/index.asp

I would like to cloak that landing page so that newproject.com remains in the address bar.. but this is not possible in my control panel..

Can I acheive this using the .htaccess or what is the best way..

Or should I simply host the newproject site as a completely seperate entity?

Your thoughts would be appreciated...

It's often referred to as stealth or masked forwarding in various control panels. Who is your registrar?

oopps no I sit corrected... ukreg do allow frame forwarding, I have implemented this, but still not sure this is the best option.

Perhaps it will be ok for a temporary measure, but for google I feel sure taking out another hosting package may be the way forward?

Yep. It's probably a temporary measure (but it works). Better would be a permanent 301 Redirect in .htaccess
