Best way to advantage multi urls to single site

I know search engines consider domain names in rankings. I've also read here that SE's don't like multi domain points to the same site. So.. what is the best way to take advantage of this situation? (short of managing mutiple sites with diff domains but exact same content).

Managing mutiple sites with diff domains but different content.

This is gold dust - be your own competitor, and nobody else will get a showing.

so if I'm selling blue widgets a, b, and c on site "www.cheapwidgets" I should also sell the same a, b, and c blue widgets on site "www.a-b-c-cheap-blue-widget-bargains". Same products, just different content (descriptions, etc).

1.)
Should these two sites be linked?

2.)
If site A is using AdSense should I place domain specific ads (AdWords) on my other site?

3.)
I've read that if you have multi domains with similar keywords you should register domains/sites with different co. names, and different hosts. (ie: SE's know you are duping sites and will penalize you) True?

1. Keep your website development as natural as possible. Example: No excess cross-linking.

2. Make the focus of your efforts the creation of value for the user/visitor, not for your interests. The truth - the truth - is that a selfless devotion to creating value is one of the best predictors of success.

3. Don't stick to any one model of business promotion, since any one model can wiped out in a single algo/filter update.

4. Shed your dependency on search engines ASAP. Before search engines traffic used to come from links. Create value for others and traffic will come from links. Some day algos may again recognize valid link votes.

5. If you want to game the search engines then be prepared to invest heavily in servers, programmers, analysts, and domains.

6. Today's "answer" is tomorrows disaster. Diversify.

7. Anyone who labors to learn the latest nuances of search engine ranking (see #5) is not in the business of charity: They don't hand out the answers they paid dearly to learn.

8. Any "secrets of ranking" that you can find on message board are, by that point in time, also known by the algo tweakers.

There is no need to do so - but you may wish to consider running ads for the other sites in your own 'network' in order to mop up customers who want to check the 'competition'.

Sorry, not sure what you mean. If you are suggesting buying ads on one of your sites to send traffic to another, it seems that only Google benefits here!

Unsure, it's not something I've heard. Do you have references for where you read that?
