Just deleted a hotlink to widgets.com, but before doing that I tested the link to see where things now stand with the domain. Of course there's a website there.

Widgets.com is a natural fit for Rick S., Mr. Domain Traffic, so it's no surprise that he should take ownership of the domain widgets.com. Smart move on his part. Maybe I noticed this before but forgot, however I just don't care to have WW contribute to his stream of accidental tourists.

Example.com is the only route to travel. Please don't employ Widgets dot com.

Nothing against Mr. eRealEstate, just not willing to initiate traffic from here to WidgetsDotCom. Let him fund his retirement via links from somewhere else. :)
