What do you hope to accomplish?

If your hope is to catch the domain on the drop then there's a lot more you need to know. For example, many domains that expire never drop but, instead, go directly into auctions.

Drop monitoring isn't what is used to be. ;)

This is for a cc tld.
I dont think they will go to any auction.

It might help if you narrow down the cc to the specific ccTLD. You can probably go that far, but it's up to you.

The reason I ask is that a script may not be the solution.

For example, there are services that monitor and capture .de domains.

The only parties likely to have such a script are the big drop catchers, and I don't think they're keen on sharing their tech with 1 zillion potential competitors :-)

mind you, they also probably need some serious hardware to crunch through all the domains about to drop,

I occassionally down load a list of dropping domains an boy is it had to manipulate a 64,000 row excel file,,

Methinks registering with the big drop catchers is the way, mind you every domain i've tried to reg keep getting re registered by the owners at the 11th hour :-)

A lot of domainers contact the owner of the domain name, right before it expires, with a purchase offer. Since it is about to expire there is a chance that they will sell it. However, more often than not, it encourages the owner to renew the domain thinking it may have some value.
