What you can do depends on who your host was reselling server space from and also if they were also the poeple you used to register your domain name ..normally here at WebmasterWorld we dont get into specifics and given the time of year and all this specific forum mod "webwork" may not be available to OK you to say the name of your host ( so don't ) ..but webwork ( BTW J ..happy new year to thee and thine specially ma ..talk privately later VV ..KINDEST ...M ) ..bonne anneé J ..

try to give us more details on your situation without actually mentioning specifics ( like is your hoster also the oufit who registered your domain name ..do you still have access to DNS direction/ pointing etc ) unless you get a "sticky mail" from webwork to say you can ..and those of us who are regulars to this forum ( domains ) and others who do know what they are talking about ( dont worry ..a little research will tell you who does ;-) will try to help ..

and ..welcome to WebmasterWorld :)

Do you own the domain name? Do you have a backup of your files / databases?

If it turns out to be totally gone (which does happen - hosting is a business where people go bankrupt just like any other) then Google cache will be your friend for content.
Won't help for any backend processing you may have had, of course.

But, its a lesson that often has to be learnt the hard way - always keep an offsite backup!

I have a backup and have already relaunched using another domain name.

But I want my original domain name back. I need to change the nameservers you see but I think the host has gone out of buisness. I'm going to contact ICANN today. Theyve been shut for hols.

Thanks for the advise. I do own the name and happy new year to all.

I contacted Nominet who deal with all .co.uk registrations and they can sort it out.
