Through what medium of exchange can I pick up the full rights to my site which is not being used and is not taken?
I'm surprised that this question is not more common, maybe I am missing something.
Also, are there any good tutorials on how to setup a home server?

Perhaps you ought to rephrase this:
Through what medium of exchange can I pick up the full rights to my site which is not being used and is not taken?
What statement are you making?
Is your "company domain name" still available and you don't know how to buy it?
Has someone else already bought the name and you believe it's not being used and you feel you have the "right" to it?
