Main domain name on hosting expires, will add-ons be affected?

Do add-ons work only as subdomains of the main domain?

Hello,

I’m wondering if anyone could advise on a domain name/hosting question.

The domain name attached to my hosting account is, say, maindomain.com, but I’ve also got two add on domains set up with Web sites. I’ve decided I don’t really want to keep maindomain.com, but I do want to keep the two add ons up and running. If I just let maindomain.com expire, will the two add ons still be viewable online and accessible via FTP and cPanal? At the moment, I don’t really have any name in mind that I’d like to replace maindomain.com with, so I’m wondering if I could just let it go.

depends on how your host has set up your panel ..nor mally if you let your main dom die ..the panel will dissapear ..and your add ons will dissapear with it..

ask your host for specific details on how they have set up your account

Thank you for the information! The domain name in question is set to expire fairly soon, so I think I'll go renew it just to be safe while I get things straightened out.
