Ever been offered a ridiculously low amount for a great name?

I know I have a very good name. It was registered many, many years ago and I have made lots of money with it. Sometimes I get emails asking if it's for sale, and I say "tell me how much you are willing offer and I will see," since you never know who is asking and how much they are willing to offer.

Now, I am not sure if they're being "tough negotiators" by offering a few hundred dollars, and then "being nice" by increasing it a bit more or do they think people are stupid enough to fall for it? They see the name (it's a very descriptive name, nothing exotic about, so there's no ambiguity), the decent looking site...so why even bother making such a loooooow offer?

Because different people have different views of what's valuable. :)

I got one a few months back. His/her asking price? Free. :P

Didn't reply to it since I have plans for that name.

I receive and make lowball offers all the time when there are no price guidelines. I'm never offended when I receive a lowball offer. It's just part of negotiations. As Dave says, different people have different perceptions of value.
