Everyone,

I posted yesterday to get some insight on a personal plight of trying to someone come up with a .com derivative of my desired domain (keywordkeyword.com) since someone had already beaten me to it.

Well...with a little prompting from another newbie, I decided to do the homework and track down the owner...figured if nothing else when we started talking price I'd finally know whether I would ever be able to get the domain or not.

Amazing what a friendly and professional approach will get you! Spoke at length with the owner (domain was not being used at all, only was purchased as a possible future branding exercise). We moved on to money and I managed to get both .net and .com versions for roughly a few hundred plus any transfer fees. This was without using a brokerage or anything else...just an exceptionally friendly discussion where we both came out winners.

Now someone's got a little more spending money, and I've got a very good (my first choice) 2-word .com domain with 11 letters, one of which produced ~1.5 million count by itselft on Overture's Keyword Selector (I think that's good!). Anyway...why post you may ask? Well, first just wanted to share a happy ending, but more importantly, I never thought I'd be able to get my first choice on my own...figured I'd have to pony up tons of money or just settle for something else. With all the domain buyers/sellers out there now...it was cool to be able to just make a transfer with just a phone call!

Okay, 'nough of my story!
