Is There Something Inherently Wrong With Domains Containing 'info'?

Domains that contain 'info', not the extension, just the word....are they viewed as having little value?

EX: www.subjectofchoiceinfo.com

Don't think so.
A domain like {city}info.com or {city}info.info will have lot of value.

Yes, I think there IS something inherently wrong with them. I think they probably suffer from association with the TLD .info, and over-use of the word in parked/link farm domains.

The public eventually learns patterns in domain naming. The most obvious part is the TLD, and they pick up on that fast. I think most people think that .biz domains are associated with cheesy fly-by-night companies, for instance.

But I think they learn patterns in the main part of the domain as well.

To the extent that certain naming patterns are used for domain parking, link farms, etc. I think the public learns to recognize them.

It would be easy enough to do a survey. Give people randomized lists of, say, 10 domain names. Have users rank them in terms of expected usefulness.

instead of the word "info" you could use the word "guide". sounds more authoritative to me.

oh, and i agree with jtara... whenever i see domains with more than 2 words, separated by hyphens, and ending in info, well i get a little nervous. but a two-word domain with no hyphens, ending in info might be ok.
