suppose you have one server located in Germany. The ip-address of the server is obviously recognized by Google as a German one. There are several domain names attached to that one ip-address, via shared hosting. Let's say there's a mysite.com, mysite.de, mysite.fr and mysite.be, containing all the same content in the specific language (.de = German, .fr = French, ...)
As we all know, the SERPS are constructed by Google based on the local Google site and the language you search in (e.g. Google.fr [lang: French], Google.be [lang: Dutch, French, German], Google.de) If you search on Google.be it will first show or prefer displaying the sites with the .be extension, secondly the .com extension and afterwards all the rest (e.g. .fr, .de, .hu).
Now as we all know, to determine the geo specifications of a website, Google looks at extension, location of the ip-address, language, geo's of sites that provide inbound links etc.
Coming back to my example of mysite.com, on Google.de 'mysite.de' and 'mysite.com' will be promoted in the SERPS. Maybe, when well optimized the .be or .fr will also show up.
Now the question is: is it possible and how can it be done to position a mysite.de in Google.fr and vice versa? Having lot's of inbound or outbound links to and from sites with extension .fr? Offering french similar content on the .de? Adding your site to Google.fr?
I know for some of you this question seems irrelevant, but it could be a nice exercise... :)

That is not what happens ..
unless ..the searcher specifies in google that they want only pages returning from ( in my case ..I'm in France ) the french hosted dot fr sites will not predominate ..unless I select " Pages : France " from the 3 radio buttons which are presented to me from the start page in google.fr
I could also select "web" ( default position ) ..
and "pages francophones" ..
if I use the integrated search box in FF or Opera ..the search is performed as if I searched using "web" ..
the sites returned at the top of serps depend on many factors ..Geo Ip is one of them ..more important is the country of the inbound links ..you want to figure high in french serps ..you need french inbound links .
edited for clarity
BTW ..this isn't really the correct forum for this particular topic ..it relates more to search than to domain names

I think it is possible through following means:
1. Develop mysite.de in French language to get expected respect at Google.fr, apart from German language
2. Get links from .fr site (you may host the domain in france as well)
