The question keeps coming up about what to do with duplicate "on topic domains", typos registered to guard against typo squatters, etc.

Other than using server redirects what other ways are there to make effective use of "back up" type domains.

This includes typos, hyphenated versions of your primary domain, plurals of your domain, and even domains that are "more specific" to your primary website - such as the primary site is Example.com, but you also reg BlueExample.tld, RedExample.tld, WholesaleExample.tld., etc.

Do you buid a mini site and then link out?

What else?

Actually Web' i'd like more info on this as well ..

I seem to hear more and more of G penalising for redirects etc ...

I have a portal site, for events .. so as well as the main domain, I also hold thenameofevent.com and would like to use that to redirect people to the portal, this at present is around 30 redirects ..

What is the best way of going about this?

I was clobbered by Google for redirects. I had about 20 domains pointing to a site, and went from 18000 indexed links to 100 in about 1 week. I am sure it is because of forwarding.
