The service is comprised of two primary components: a wild card redirection in the TLD zone and a web page to provide enhanced search capabilities for the user. The service will be fully compliant will all relevant IETF RFCs.

This is the first application in the newly formed ICANN Registry Request Service.

Thus begins the epoch of registry services getting into the domain traffic business, tracking traffic for unregistered domain names and, perhaps, either leading to variable pricing (based upon traffic stats for unregistered domain names) OR leading to fortunate people (with access to data for unregistered domains) registering domain names with a slight "choice advantage".

Hey, why even both to sell domain names? Why not simply have the registry keep all the domains and partner up with content providers, database providers, etc.?

That'll work.

exactly, I think we saw this day coming for a while...yikes the nostrodomus prediction is coming true! So how can we be the guys that get the pre-registration direct navigation numbers and grab up all the domains?
