I'm not really a webmaster but I'm setting up a web site for a local college cycling team. I'm not sure if I should go with a .com or .org domain name. It's not a commercial entity and it's not an officially registered non-profit organization either. However, it is a non-profit club. Any suggestions which way I should go?

domain names being relatively inexpensive, nab both the .com and the .org, then have one pointed at the other.

There's more than one .org domain out there where someone is making other use of an 'unneeded' .com name typein traffic.

It's really entirely up to you, but I always think .com rolls off the tongue quite nicely :-)

Whichever you use, it's wise to get both neatly tied up (even if one domain will only sit in cold storage, unused) so no impostor-squatter can divert your traffic to his samename.com or .org site. A stitch in time spares you the colossal headache of netsurfers confusing you for some other entity, and a potential fortune in legal bills to get it stopped. Take it from one who knows by experience.
