Re-visiting sub-domains, SEO, favicons etc

Hey guys is this possible, can a sub-domain be hosted on a different server. I have been looking at the idea of branching off into some new topics.

Now how will I do this, I have my main site, can my sub domain be completely a NEW SIte with different design and hundreds of pages of content.

lets say my site is www.jamaicanwidgets.com, with 100 pages. Can another site using FP that is actually being built around Trinidad. the site has 100 pages about trinidad widgets, can I be affected if I say
trinidadwidgets.jamaicanwidgets.com.

The Trinidad widgets will mimic site structure and design with only change in branding and content.

Plus how can I get an individual favicon for the sub-domain

Set up a new A record in the DNS

If the subdomain site is to have the same IP address then you need to point your server to a directory on the second server.

The problem here is redundancy, if the primary server fails then this will also bring down your subdomain.

Just put your new favicon.ico file toegether with your new files.
